Joel Murphy has recently accepted the role of Impact and Innovation Coordinator at the Centre for Employment Innovation (CEI).  Already a valued member of the team, Joel has worked for the CEI over the past year as Youth Leadership Intern.

This new role will allow Joel to continue his engagement with and support of innovative thinking around impact measurement, knowledge mobilization, and youth engagement.

Joel is currently working toward his Ph.D in Educational Studies at Acadia Univerity. His areas of research are experiential education, community engagement, youth development, and youth leadership development. He has worked in young adult and youth focused organizations across Canada and has brought his lived experience as a youth practitioner into his academic pursuits.

Growing up in Winnipeg, MB, Joel has called Nova Scotia home for the past 10 years. He currently lives in Berwick with his wife Kathleen and their three English Bulldogs.

As the Impact and Innovation Coordinator, I am eager to bring my passion for evidence-based programming evaluation, leadership development, experiential education, and community development into this role with the CEI. The opportunity to learn from, engage with, and support diverse system partners and young leaders across Nova Scotia is a privilege. I am excited and curious about how to better understand and share the amazing work of CEI across Nova Scotia and to foster and encourage collaboration between government, education, the private sector, community organizations, and young people.
