Meet Addy!
Addy Strickland recently accepted the position of Youth Engagement Specialist at the Centre for Employment Innovation (CEI).
In this role, Addy will lead the development of an inclusive youth engagement framework, which will help guide organizations in their ability to best engage with and support young people. She will also support and collaborate with the other youth-focused projects led by teams across the CEI and Coady Institute. The most exciting piece of this role for Addy is the opportunity to work side-by-side with young people and elevate their voices.
Before joining the CEI team, Addy completed an Honours degree in Development Studies at St. Francis Xavier University, where she concentrated her studies on art and storytelling as methods for building community. Her love of all things artistic translates into nearly every aspect of her life as well. In her free time, you might find Addy wandering the town of Antigonish with her camera, painting in the Coady Gardens, or working on a new writing project (currently, an anthology of writing from the front lines of campus activism against sexualized violence).
“Young people are changing the course of our future. Creating spaces for youth to engage with each other and their communities in new ways, and to work on big issues is crucial to building a better world for all of us.“
