Hannah James recently accepted the position of Youth Participatory Action Research Intern at the Centre for Employment Innovation (CEI).
As a Health student at StFX University, understanding how the social determinants of health interact with biological, psychological and environmental factors to determine health outcomes is an integral part of what Hannah is learning in her degree.
The relationship between mental health and employment is an area of research that Hannah is passionate about and she cannot wait to further explore it through her new position.
As the Youth Participatory Action Research Intern, Hannah will be working to research and explore how mental health challenges impact youth who are active in the workforce and to create a proposal for a future youth engagement program.
This opportunity will allow Hannah to apply her own knowledge and skills to a project that she is passionate about, while also providing a proposal for employment services that could help her peers in the future.
Employment is an integral part of our lives, it determines where you live, what food you eat, and what services you have access to and all of those are determining factors in how healthy you are. The impact that employment has on our health is important and I am excited to have the chance to explore it further this summer.
